Second Worldwide Vigil on the UN Financial Crisis
October 23, 1997
The Second Worldwide Vigil took place on the eve of UN day, October 23, 1997 in 45 cities and 16 countries around the world. Vigils were held at local churches, community centers, public parks and universities. They were held in front of federal buildings, state capitols, city halls, and US and other government embassys. Letters were written to ambassadors and congresspeople. In New York City and Washington D.C., vigils were held across the street from the United Nations and the White House.
