Funding Shortfalls of Hunger Crises in 2004

These data show funding shortfalls of the WFP's relief projects with the largest percentage of shortfalls. The data include only the hunger crises for which the WFP appealed for funding. The crises include both the WFP's Protracted Relief and Recovery Operations and Emergency Operations. They only include the WFP's ongoing operations, not those already completed.

Indonesia, Bolivia and Peru are not included among the 10 largest percentage shortfalls since the projects was not set to start until October 2004 as earliest. As of October 11, 2004 the shortfalls for WFP's operations in Indonesia was 89%, Bolivia 100% and Peru 100%.

The figures in US$ represent the value of food quantities.

*Resources to Raise indicates the projected level of WFP distribution in calendar year 2004 based on most recent assessment, minus carry-over stocks or carry-over contributions. The WFP revise these figures upwards throughout the year when budget revisions requiring increased commitment or new operations are approved.

(6) Assistance to persons displaced by violence in Colombia (Protracted Relief and Recovery Operation)

(7) Targeted food assistance for relief and recovery of displaced persons and vulnerable groups in Azerbaijan. (Protracted Relief and Recovery Operation)

(8) Targeted food assistance for orphans and vulnerable children in Namibia affected by food insecurity and the impact of HIV/AIDS (Emergency Operation)

(9) Assistance to drought-affected persons (Emergency Operation)

(10) Assistance to primary school children and vulnerable groups (Emergency Operation)
