From October 20 to 24, 2025, negotiations on a legally binding instrument on business and human rights will take place in Geneva (11th session of the open-ended intergovernmental working group (OEIGWG) on transnational corporations and other business enterprises with respect to human rights).

Nach zweijährigen Verhandlungen trat am 25. Juli 2024 die EU-Lieferkettenrichtlinie (Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, CSDDD) offiziell in Kraft. Sie verpflichtet große Unternehmen ab Juli 2027, Menschenrechte und die Umwelt entlang der gesamten Lieferkette zu achten sowie Klimapläne im Einklang mit dem Pariser Klimaabkommen zu erstellen und umzusetzen. Creating better institutions for international tax cooperation is considered a key pillar of international financial architecture reform. Vom 14. bis 23. Juli 2025 fand die diesjährige Tagung des Hochrangigen Politischen Forums (High-Level Political Forum, HLPF) der Vereinten Nationen statt. Das HLPF ist das zentrale UN-Gremium für nachhaltige Entwicklung und soll hauptsächlich die Umsetzung der Agenda 2030 und ihrer globalen Nachhaltigkeitsziele (Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs) überwachen.
An der Tagung nahmen nach UN-Angaben mehr als 6.000 Vertreter*innen von Regierungen und internationalen Organisationen sowie von Parlamenten, Städten, zivilgesellschaftlichen Organisationen, wissenschaftlichen Einrichtungen und Wirtschaftsverbänden teil.

Vom 4. bis 6. November 2025 veranstalten die Vereinten Nationen in Doha, Katar den zweiten Weltgipfel für soziale Entwicklung (World Summit for Social Development, WSSD2).
