From June 30 to July 3, 2025, the fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) will take place in Seville, Spain. Expectations for the outcomes of the conference are high: the agreements to be reached aim to close the massive financing gaps in the areas of climate and sustainable development, and to advance the urgently needed reforms of the international financial architecture.
Current geopolitical conflicts and shifts to national interest politics pose serious challenges to the international financing of sustainable development. Our conference will therefore bring together leading voices from politics and civil society to explore the challenges and opportunities of FfD4 in light of recent geopolitical shifts. We aim to discuss how Germany and the EU – beyond economic and security interests – can support the necessary systemic reforms of international development financing based on the foundation of human rights and for the well-being of all.
