Living wages and social protection are key instruments for sustain-ably reducing poverty. But how can living wages in global supply chains be achieved in practice? What responsibilities do the Ger-man Government and German companies have in this regard? And how can the German Government help improve access to social protection in low-income countries?'

We will discuss these questions at our event which is held one year after the Second World Summit for Social Development (WSSD-2). In the Doha Declaration adopted at the summit, governments com-mitted to combating poverty, promoting decent work, expanding social protection, advancing gender equality, and strengthening so-cial inclusion.

One year after the summit, we aim to take stock of political pro-gress: How is the German Government contributing to the imple-mentation of the Doha Declaration in the areas of living wages and social protection, and what obstacles are hindering progress?
The hybrid event will take place on 3 November 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. (CET). The conference language will be German. English interpretation will be provided.

Please register here by 23 October 2026. Participants joining online will receive the access details in advance of the event.

We look forward to your participation!
